Maori gods

WALT:we are learning to write to describe how nga atua maori relates to us.

This term,Huia whanau have been talking about maori gods. The first thing we did was a bus stop activity to find out what we already knew.We the read the creation story and retold it in our own creative  way.My freind Mania and i made a movie. We did a colabrative class art identifying six different gods :Rongo-ma-tane ,Maui, Ruamoko, Tumatauenga, Tawhirimatea and Tangaroa.WE had to work together to figure out different coulor codes for our different atua. Then on Wednesday/Raapa in maori we did a waiata with actions  and explained there different emotions . Then at Kupa Haka we did weaving of the maori gods. Wich maori god are you?Are you learning about Maori gods in your class?

  1. Tēnā koe Imogen. I enjoyed reading your post about ngā atua māori. I really connect with two atua, Papatuanuku and Tangroa. Papa is our earth mother and carer of all things, and Tangaroa is our atua of the seas and oceans. I love being outside in nature, either walking through the ngāhere, climbing maunga, or swimming in the moana. What are your favourite atua? Are there any that you feel more connected to than others? Why might this be? What's your favourite learning been so far?
